He was a farmer , had dark eyes, dark complexion and was 5ft 8 in tall. He was part of the confederacy. Served Enlisted Bco. 19the Inf. Reg. Va disch disability on 17 Feb. 1862 ( Discharged for rheumatism) Source Virginia Regimental Histories Series. Knowing that, he was born in 1840 in Virginia ,this just makes sense.
