Oh, so that's what you were getting at---the man at the reunion who said he was a linear descendant of John Rice Maupin. I, for one, would be glad to have this mystery cleared up as well. I bet he is a descendant of one of John Rice Maupin's brothers. > John Harris Maupin was my John Maupin's first cousin. My John was the son of > Dabney Maupin~Sarah "Sally" Dennis and he married Mary Jane Williams. This one is a cinch compared to one that has me going around in circles right now. It seems that James Grier's sons Thomas and James each had a son named Alexander. Then, both Alexanders married Spratt sisters--one married Margaret Spratt and one married Mary Spratt. One had a son named Alexander Pringle Grier who died at age 14, so the other named one of his children Alexander Pringle Grier in memory of his cousin. What a mess! What makes it so much of a mess is that Family Tree Maker wants to have both Alexanders marrying the same Spratt girl and wants to attribute Alexander Pringle Grier to both Alexanders even though one Alexander Pringle lived to an old age and married, etc. My head is still spinning! Pat
Good Afternoon!!! As far as I know Dorothy Snead was the only descendant of John Rice Maupin at the Reunion. I am not sure but do not remember any one else on his brothers lines. Thompson had no children, neither did James, as far as we know now, some of William Bailey Maupin, John Rice Maupin's brother, was there I think. The brother Callum died early, and I have not been in contact with any of William Overton Maupin's family or line. If you need any additional information, please let me know.
