My line is Gabriel>Daniel>John>Thomas>John Dabney>Charles Morris>Daniel Marion> John William>Morris>John Wheelan Maupin (me). One of John Dabney's sons, John Upton Maupin, was supposedly also an "irregular" in Missouri during the Civil War. He was born in Shelby County, MO in 1841 and was killed in Hunnewell, MO (also Shelby County) on August 18, 1864 when he resisted capture by a squad of federal troops sent to pick him up when he came home to visit. He had a Quantrell connection of some sort and had lost an arm early in the war - he was still carrying two guns, however, and put up quite a fight before falling to superior forces. Interestingly, at least to me, is the fact that several different lines of our family came into Missouri about the same time; but I was disappointed at the reunion because so few there were closer to me than the Thomas/Judith Cobbs branch.
