    1. [MAUPIN-L] Corrections to Dorothy's Book
    2. Dear Maupin Cousins: I just received my wonderful book from Dorothy and can hardly wait to get into reading about my heritage. The book came within 10 days of my ordering it, what a great job. For your information (and Dorothy does know of this correction, we had conferred several years ago and documented the correction/spelling, etc). Page 180 bottom: Under Thomas Maupin (22) Line: 1st line under (54a) John Dabney .... Samuel J. (J is Jennings) married Elizabeth Gilmore: Nov 2, 1820 in Mason Country VA. (daughter of Hugh Gilmore and Lucritia Reynolds). further down: Children: b. Silas G. (G is Gilmore) and his name is Silas Thomas Gilmore Maupin born Jan 19, 1824 Mason County, VA. died. Oct 9, 1902, Fruitland, New Mexico. Married: Martha Bukey. (So the _______ Buchy) is Martha A. Bukey married May 1, 1847 in VA. daughter of John Bukey and Rebeckah Pogue. further down: under c. Evalena husband # (2) was Adolph Bukey (not Buchy) I have further information on the Silas T.G. Maupin/Martha Bukey line if anyone is interested. I may post it later for other's databases. He was my great great grandfather, was in the Civil War, went in a covered conestoga wagon from Kansas to New Mexico, homestead land in Farmington, NM, fought in the Indian Wars for the Territory of NM, and I have lots of stories of him. I also have info on the Bukey line who were also old Virginia family. Take Care all. Happy New Year. Susan (in San Diego, CA)

    3. Susan, You have just opened a door that already has an answer in the mill. This is just the kind fo information William is looking for for the MAUPIN newsletter, he is starting this year. You might want to send him a copy DIRECTLY - just to make sure he doesn't miss it on the list. We need to be careful, before we fault anyone, as in many cases Dorothy was quoting - Exactly - the information found in Eugene Maupin's files. Sometimes we find some typos that crept in, but when you are using pencil and an OLD typewriter, those things happen. A few errors were caught shortly after the publication of the first edition and corrected in the second edition. The book now being published is simply a REPRINT of the second edition. NO - I repeat - NO - changes were made, NO - corrections were made - just more copies.
