Hi Sandi. In 1849 Garrett, Howard and There families left Missouri for Oregon at some point shortly after leaving all the Maupins and there friends turned back to Missouri. Seems as Garrett could not get along with the wagon master. Garrett and Howard started there own train with Garrett as wagon master and left for Oregon in 1850 at the Dischuttes river crossing the Maupin Brothers built a ferry for wagons to cross the river,( Maupin, OR) and Howard operated the ferry. The Maupin's also fabricated a passable wagon road from Maupin over the cascade range into the Willamette valley around Eugene I think they are all Oregon pioneers. Linda Noel knows more on the Oregon Maupins than anyone I know of. I will check out the Oregon Pioneers. Best Michael
