Anyone interested in doing something in Virginia? We've done that before, but I always enjoy VA.. I would be in favor and maybe the week after the 4th of July? I have a meeting DC the week of July 4th.... so could hop down to the VA area afterwards.. Any ideas folks? Ellie

    3. Someone would have to agree to do the bulk of the work and that's huge! Last one we had in C'ville, Wm Albertson took his motor home and lived in the C'ville/Whitehall area while he was researching, and also planning the whole reunion. It would take a special person who wanted to devote most of their time to it for almost a year. The ones in the past have not been "potlucks" or anything like that. 3. Rose Marie--There have been 3 reunions in C'ville and 1 in Wmsburg in the last 20 yrs or so. I have attended them all. They have all been planned by Dorothy Shaffett, except for the last one in C'ville which was planned by Wm Albertson. They are a huge amount of work, as I understand it, and plans must be made at least a year in advance. They have been well attended with people from CA, TX, and all over the US. Dorothy is no longer able to do it (she's in her late 80's) and Wm is not doing another one apparently, so if you would like to take it on, it would be wonderful. I would be there for sure. 3. Yes it is a tremendous disappointment! I attended the October 2000 reunion as well. My 85 year old father, Oliver Clay Maupin, Jr. was looking forward to attending the Richmond, Ky reunion this year and I had to tell him it was cancelled. It was hard to explain to him. Learned a lot from William and others at this Maupin Reunion and was so looking forward to this year. William had asked me if I would like to be part of descendents trying to find where John Maupin (father of John Maupin who married Sylvaney Reid) had lived on Goose Creek. This is such a disapointment not to be having it at all. Cuz, Norma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 3. Hi Sandi, I'm not sure what you mean by "they are right up my alley" but I would do my best to be helpful. And it would be nice actually meeting some of the Maupin gang since I've lost contact with most of my Maupin descendants thru time and distance unfortunately. But it would be lovely to put real people to the names of the list correspondence thru the years. I can imagine how beautiful it is where you are. I am hoping to visit Los Osis CA next year as I think it will be the last time I get to see my uncle Len, who was married to the daughter of Lucille Maupin, my grandmother. And then hopefully to SJ to see my only surviving aunt Sharon, also her daughter. And the Pacific. God gives us all such wonderful slices of heaven on earth I think and I'm sure yours is wonderful. You've appeared happy there. That's what counts. In the meantime, we can historically find Maupin's everywhere (as my daughter who is researching her paternal line is finding out, hehe). And any reunion, with a little heart can be a good thing no matter where it is and no matter what records we have or don't have. William Albertson has helped me. He has helped so many people. He is a true historian of the Maupin and collateral lines. I think it is sad that someone that is into sharing and helping with his database and research is such a scoundrel in other areas. Sad and rather unfair to mess with people's feelings, time, and intelligence. Strictly my opinion. Thanks for the warn greeting. I know reunions are right up your alley and so hope there will be a great one in Ohio.
