    1. Jesse and Lucy Jones Maupin
    2. I am hoping that members of this list can help me with this couple. I have a fair amount of information but certainly am lacking in others. 1. Does anyone know when they moved to Henry County, VA? The first record I can find for them there is in 1786. Where were they before that? 2. When did Lucy die? She signed a daughter's marriage consent in 1801 - but I cannot find her after that. 3. Some postings say Jesse married a second time to a Sweeny. But others say that the Jesse who married a Sweeny was the son of Zachariah Maupin. Does anyone have the answer to this? 4. Also, does anyone know where/when Jesse died? The last I can find of him in Henry County is in 1816. Is there a Will or probate record for Jesse? If so, where? I will be so very grateful if anyone can answer any of these questions. Many, many thanks for your help. Jody Davis

If you were origionally asking about Jesse Maupin he was Jane's younger brother, I believe. Jane was born about 1734; I believe Jesse was born about 1740. His first wife was Lucy Jones; they had several children however it is believed he married a widow by the last name of Sweeney; he left a will naming two or three of his children as his heirs as well as the second wife and her children. He did die in Kentucky. call me or e-mail directly and maybe I can answer any particular questions you may have. I have been trying to find out more information about my line, hence other info about some of the other Maupin lines. Until next time. Brenda Ray-Nayfeh My phone number is 216-939-8366. 2. Norma, you are correct. Gen, as we called him, is the son of Doc and Julie. They are my Great Grandparents. My Grandpa was Leonard, Gen's brother. Doc married Julie Spivey. She was not a Bray. However, Doc and Julie lived on Bray Creek. Hope this helps! T. Maupin Curry

    3. I believe that the Jesse Maupin that is thought to have married a Sweeney which was a second marriage was Daniel Maupin and Margaret Via's son; If this is indeed that Jesse then his birth date would have been about 1740 and not 1766. I am new at researching the Maupin connections; I know I have some information regarding Jesse Maupin in my files. 3. Hi Cousins, I am so excited that my copy of the book arrived this afternoon! I started on page 185, going through it, comparing it to my data base. I ran into a conflict as to the death place of Cornelius Maupin, son of John and Frances Dabney Maupin. I do not have a date of death, but my data base shows he died in Madison County, KY. Can someone please verify his place of death - and a date would be helpful. Thank you. Gwen Stuart

    3. Gwen: I send a copy of the below email to James Welch. He wants all corrections. I said you had a question. James would email me, after he got the information and photos, about what was mentioned here and there. If he found information that was not the same but in a census, etc., he used that rather than what we sent to him. This might be why there is a conflict since all I sent to him was what y'all gave me. He will probably email you Gwen. 3. Hi Do any of you "Maupin" cousins have any information regarding this couple. I am currently trying to establish the relationship of Samuel and Jane Maupin Rea as the parents of Thomas Rea who married Ann, Anne, Annis Ballard. I have the information from Rev. Woods "Albemarle County, Virginia and some from Dr. Socrates Maupin's research however, for some reason the geneologist @ DAR doesn't want to accept these sources. Any assistance or suggestions are appreciated. My family connection is through Jane Maupin and Samuel Rea their son: Thomas Rea & Annis Ballard son: Daniel Rea & Sara "Sally" Thomas son: Zedekiah H. Rea & Elinore "Lou Ellen" Clatterbuck (moved to Roane County, VA 1856, now WV with wife, 2 year old son and 2 younger brothers William and Ira Rea) son: Okie Johnson Ray & Mary Elizabeth Coon son: Benna Averill Ray & Thelma Scarberry then ME Looking forward to communicating with some of you. 3. On page 104,( my line) Gracie, Alfred, Rachel, David, Martha, Dewey, and William H. all died in 1920 from measles and pneumonia. 10. Jesse Maupin married Dora McDaniel not Dona and they had eight children in Richmond, IN. 8. Mattie Leah (my mother) died June 14, 1985. She married in 1929. Photo 57, was John and Anna Marcum; not Adaline Allen who married his father Thomas. Also General G. was born in 5/23/1920 to Philip "Doc" Maupin and Julia Spivey. He was their third child. This is as Sandi wrote. I think I had the wrong wife. Norma --------------------------------- Brings words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Mail.
