    3. I should have mentioned that the purpose for this website is to have the material, data, etc., for Jesse Maupin and wife Lucy Jones all in one spot to make it easier for researchers to access, instead of having to delve through many other files. Sooner or later a Maupin researcher will find their way to the MAUPIN-List or to the MAUPIN GenForum and either learn about the MyFamily.com website there or from another researcher of this line of the MAUPINs. 3. Phyllis I have been out and done some looking on your website. My personal feelings are: 1. No one should enter anything at this point until we: a. Decide how it should be done I am in agreement about having folders set up for certain individuals because of the amount of information that is available. b. Do we want everyone to enter what they have Perhaps some of the information, such as articles (for instance, I have written several articles on individuals based on family information. That certainly doesn't mean that it is fact). Perhaps some of the articles should be sent to you first since it is your website. We may want to condense the articles, etc for space. c. What are going to be the procedures for entering information My husband has a family website on his information. Everyone pretty much enters all of their information, but they try to keep it to information that they can substantiate. This does limit some of the information, but they also have a folder set up where you may put articles that individuals have written that may or may not be factual, but for information purposes only. One thing for sure, we certainly don't want to confuse your website. That is my real concern. I certainly agree that we should set up a folder for individuals that contain or could contain a lot of information to ascertain that it stays with the correct individual. Do you know what the limitations would be on this file? For instance, I have some court records, divorce records, marriage records, etc. This information would of course be of interest to all, but it does take up a great deal of space. My suggestion would be to make it available to all whom are interested, but perhaps we should just scan that information and e-mail it direct to those who would like to have it. I am certainly open for suggestions and it is your website and we need to respect this website. I have done extensive research on Mosias and do have a great deal of information which would be of interest to a number of individuals, but perhaps we should look at it as a person to person if it is going to use a great deal of space. I also have some pictures of tombstone markers, etc. and this does take up a great deal of space. We may want to limit and perhaps may want to be selective of some of the additional items to reserve space for everyone to contribute their line and make this a wonderful site for the Maupin line. I still want to study the site some more and may have more concerns, but you have done a wonderful job. Thanks for letting me be a part of this website.

    3. While the website below serves its purpose, the MyFamily.com works well for other purposes, such as placing a book online as I have done with the Maupin section from my personal family history. Rather than make a new printing, it will be there for a long time for anyone who is interested. This section focuses on the descent of Jesse and Lucy (Jones) Maupin and in particular my ancestor Jesse Jr. and his wife Susanna Dent. William had mentioned the interesting story of the research for my Maupin connection and I decided I should "just do it" and start another website. You can read about this research in the file called "My Favorite Ancestor" (or something like that) in the File Cabinet. There are also other things that are easier to place on a website such as this, like transcribed interviews and personal memories to name a few. There is a Photo section that adds interest. As previously mentioned, the format is set and can't be changed by the administrator (me) of the website, but it can be adapted, as I have done with the "Recipes" section. Can't change that title, but since we are all made up of the "ingredients" called ancestors, I thought it was an appropriate place to for each member to put a Brief Lineage so we know what line they are from. You need not be a descendant of Jesse and Lucy (Jones) Maupin to request an invitation to this website. An e-mail to me asking me for an invite is all you have to do. 3. An invitation has been sent to you Sharron. It will be great to have your additions to the website, but do me a favor and study the website set-up before you upload. I can't change anything, to speak of. I wish the "Catagories" worked the way I would expect them to, that is, where we could put all the info that pertains to a particular child of Jesse and Lucy in one folder. I tried it, and the file will go in the "Catagory" folder, but it also stays in the main area. I set up different "Catagories" for each child and then removed them when I discovered that the file also stayed in the general area. Also, I thought it might be confusing for people to know how to do this. Take a look at the way the website is set up and see if you think it would be good to have a Mosias catagory folder to put in everything relating to his line. There is so much for him, I'm thinking if that gets all mixed with my book stuff, that in itself is going to be confusing. Perhaps I should go back to the idea of different folders, as having all those files for my book may be confusing for people. Will appreciate your input. Phyllis

    3. One more thing -- I've noticed at another MyFamily.com website that I have for another of my surnames, that the note section for individuals gets cut off at a certain point. Apparently only so much is allowed for each person. If you have need for a GEDCOM with the note section intact, let me know and I will send it to you as an e-mail attachment. And, just one more thing -- my GEDCOM does not have anything in it for Mosias. I will leave it up to his many, many descendants to put their GEDCOM on the website so that it may be shared with others. Phyllis

    1. [MAUPIN-L] Jesse MAUPIN & Lucy JONES MyFamily.com website
    2. Phyllis J. Bauer
    3. The Jesse MAUPIN & Lucy JONES MyFamily.com website is now in operation. In order to access it you must be invited by another member such as myself or Bonnie Huth. If you would like to be a member and have access so that you can see and share, please drop me an e-mail message. I apologize for all the advertising and surveys on this site, but when you get something "free" it isn't really free. Like TV, we have to put up with the ads. There are limitations to the design of this website, but with a few adaptions, we will manage. For instance: Please enter your Brief Lineage in the "Recipes" section. Look at mine and see the brief format. The Maupin section from my LYNN-MAUPIN family history is in the File Cabinet. Some of the pictures from it are in the Photo section. My MAUPIN lineage is in the Online Family Tree section and you may download the GEDCOM if you wish, or just look at it online. If you have any questions, just let me know. If you wish to add other interested descendants, you may do so by following the directions at the box on the right of the opening screen. Hope you will join in making your Jesse and Lucy family material available to others. Phyllis J. Bauer (Gabriel Maupin, Daniel Maupin, Jesse Maupin Sr., Jesse Maupin Jr., Mary Maupin, Francis M. Lynn, Nellie Lynn, Nell Noble, Phyllis)

    1. [MAUPIN-L] Places of interest in the White Hall-Charlottesville Area
    2. MAUPIN REUNION 2000
    3. Good Afternoon!!! According to what line your are on, there are various places that would pertain to your line. For Example: The Sandridge Cemetery in the White Hall area. Some 60-70 fieldstone graves of the early Maupin family include, I am almost sure, Thomas Maupin d. abt. 1765, Gabriel Maupin d. 1794, Ann Ballard Maupin, d. abt. 1820, John Maupin, son of Daniel, d. abt. 1806 and his wife Frances Dabney Maupin, d. ??, her mother Sarah Jennings Dabney d. abt. 1789. Judith Maupin Epperson Burch, and John Burch, her husband. Next: The Jarman Cemetery, again all fieldstone graves, located on the Jarman Homeplace and right next to the site where the Methodist Meeting House stood, which was on the original Brown's Gap Turnpike. This is in White Hall also. Next: The Maupin Cemetery--Old Batna Farm on the mountain in White Hall, descendants of William Maupin and Mildred White, they are possibly buried there also many fieldstone graves, but inscribed stones for many of this line. John (the red head) Maupin is definitely buried there. Next: The Maupin Cemetery--Old Browns Gap Turnpike about two miles south of White Hall. Addison Maupin, Chapman White Maupin, William Amos Maupin, and several children. This is the family of Socrates Maupin, who is buried at the University. This Cemetery is very-very difficult to get into it is heavily overgrown. The Original Thomas Ballard Home. You can see it from the road north and east of White Hall, it sits across the road from the Homeplace of Mosias Jones's Land Grant parcel. Wesley Chapel Church, Free Union. Land for this church given by Thompson and Via families, many many Maupins buried in the Cemetery behind it. Very well kept, still being used. I can announce the various places for people to visit at the Friday day or evening meeting. And don't forget anyone wishing to can go to church Sunday at Mt. Moriah Church. Also there are two winerys in the White Hall area also. I would suggest a ride up through Sugar Hollow most of this land was owned by Daniel Maupin in 1748. On the south is what was know as William Maupin's Mountain. If I can be of any further help please let me know. I guess you know that James Monroe's home is just down the road from Thomas Jefferson's home and the Michie Tavern is on the same road. William
