We had no rain for 8 years here in SO California during the 1970s and when it did rain low areas flooded as the street drains were clogged up with dust and leaves. Max, you aren't alone in trying to get family interested in genealogy. Also, a lot of our family - Fitzpatrick - wouldn't walk across the street to go to our annual reunion in June through lack of interest. Amazing! They just don't know what fun they are missing at the reunions. Also, they don't know how much money they are saving by not doing genealogy! By the way, ALL, the Myfamily.com sites are coming along well. We now have three sites for the children of Daniel Maupin~Margaret Via. Hopefully we'll have sites for the other children who have descendants. Anyone on the list from any of the families beside those of Jesse Maupin~Lucy Jones, John Maupin~Frances Dabney and Zachariah Maupin~Elizabeth Jarman???? Don't be shy folks. Also, for those of you who are new to this list, WELCOME, and if you are in any of the above families or not, and you would like to be invited to join any/all Myfamily.com sites, please post to the list with your first and last name to be added. And, also, we are taking names for copies of a soon to be reprinted book that was finished by Dorothy [Maupin] Shaffett back in the early 1990s. Not all family are in the book but I highly recommend it as a research resource. If you would like to be on the list, post to this site and you will be added. We aren't sure just when the book will be published or the exact cost, though $40. keeps being mentioned. That is probably the price before postage. Best, Cuz Sandi

You might send Donald Maupin a letter and ask him. He is in the favorite line ;p and lives in Durant, OK. He works (volunteers?) at the library there, but it has a different name, i.e., it's not the Durant Library. However, they do have a website, so maybe you could find his email address that way. He gave me the list but I don't recall just where he said he got it. Pat (oh, yes, it is raining now and I ain't complainin'.)

I have a lot of family around the Dallas area and either they complain about too much rain or not enough. What about all those beautiful lakes you have? Are they way down? Pat, was that list you sent to my copyrighted on Quantrill's men or is that a gov't record? I'd like to post it on a friend's personal genealogy web site and don't want to do a no, no. Cuz Sandi

    2. Max Maupin
    3. ____________________________________ Speaking of Texas: Max have two cousins; one in Plano and one in Arlington. We've been trying to get them interested in the Maupin family history but haven't had much luck. We've sent them a lot of material but they are both very very busy people. They descended from the Gabriel/Daniel/Jesse/Mosias/George/Addison B./William O./Inez Maupin Stidham. She was the youngest and died in her early 30s and is not mentioned in Dorothy's book. We hope to get the cousins to Missouri in June for the reunion. Bettye (Mrs. Max in Rolla.) And Sandi, that joke about having kids who have never seen rain is an OLD one - still funny though. Instead of the weather, shall we talk politics? Ugh. ________________________________________ >In a message dated 11/12/00 8:37:38 AM, celtic@ticnet.com writes: > ><< And dry. You forgot dry. 2. James Watson
    3. Hi Cousins--One thing that I've been thinking about that I want to share with you all is that at the Wmsburg Reunion, Dorothy Shaffett mentioned that the movie and book The Return of Martin Guerre is a very accurate depiction of how the Maupins lived in France. My son who's taking Reformation Europe at UVA has just finished reading Martin Guerre as one of the text books in that class. Also, my husband Jim is an amateur historian and he says that the book and movie The Outlaw Josie Wales is a good depiction of what was going on regarding the period of Quantrill. Hope your son is doing better, Sandi. Love, Denise

I checked the SSDI records and she probably didn't have a SS# as she was quite old. I'm not sure you could get a copy of this woman's death certificate without the maiden name of her mother and her husband's first name, if she was married. I believe OK charges $10. per request, which, if they find nothing, you do not get back. Has anyone else seen birth and death records for OK on the net? Ca has a great free site for those. Not all are listed, but they keep adding more. Best, Cuz Sandi

    1. [MAUPIN-L] James H. Dulaney
    2. Daniel "Tough" Maupin got custody of his grandchildren when thier mother Delilah Maupin Dulaney and father Willaim Dulaney both died young. Their oldest son, James H. Dulaney b. 2 June 1805, was my ggggrandfather. He came to Howard County, MO and married Ruth C. Woods 17 Jan 1828. My question is, does anyone know how he happened to come to Missouri? Was he possibly bonded to one of the early Maupin's that came to Missouri or did Daniel come to Missouri at one time or another himself and bring James with him and James stayed here? If anyone could help me on this I would certainly appreciate it. Vicki
