    1. [MAUPIN-L] BILL LIKES ME!!!!!!!
    2. Hi Cousins: AT LAST! I got my directory and reunion stuff. Well, less the apple butter and I was looking forward to that the most! Just kidding! How about the recipe, Bill????? Bill, you did a great job and a lot of WORK on this project! We ALL appreciate that so much and your unwavering dedication to the Maupin family! I figure, when all are stumped with a question on family, if Bill doesn't know the answer, ain't nobody who knows it! Am I right or what? We should all stand and give Bill a round of applause and a big long cheer! Okay, directory corrections are in order. Count, including the directory front, 6 sheets of paper. Got that? On the back side of sheet #6 you will see me first. All is okay except, as someone else pointed out, my e-mail addy. It is SandKatC@aol.com. Next name is Bill Fitzpatrick. This is his correct line. 3. Linda, Yours is the letter I was refering too - "Just a thought". I'm still trying to catch up on all of the e-mail since the Charlottesville trip. I had over 1000 letters waiting when I got home and it still is coming in at about 50 to 75 a day. Sorry, but ocassionally I misplace some of it, even though I remember its content. For those who have asked... Bill/William was going to take a long trip home. He planned to stop and visit with Dr. King about the "Maupin" papers in French. Then he was going to stop in Surry County, Georgia, to check on some records. He also had some wrapping up to do around Charlottsville, before he left. I'm not sure when he plans to be home, but sometime before the Big Bird hits the table. Lindalayman@aol.com wrote: > > I HAVE EUGENE MAUPIN'S FAMILY HISTORY - GIVEN TO ME BY MY GRANDMOTHER. 3. I forgot to make note of the person who has the 174 page letter from Eugene Maupin. Would you consider making that letter PUBLIC? It would appear that we have the ability to publish it, if not I know who can, so it can be used for comparison? As such his letter is probably too large for posting on the list. I know that Dorothy made extensive use of his files in her rendition of her book, but there is always the possibility of new information surfacing or that has been overlooked. -- Loren <kycollja@midusa.net> {:-)> HOKC *))))) TSG, USAF, Retired >From Iola, in the rolling hills of SE Kansas

Yes, I use The Master Genealogist (TMG). I began using it about eight years ago. When I first tried it (the demo version at the time), there were no reports and all I could do was import or generate GEDCOM files. I immediately fell in love with the program and bought my copy. It took about six weeks to get the program (it was still being developed), but I continued to use the demo version without reports because there was nothing else comparable on the market. When I got the final first version, I knew I had made the right choice as TMG was head and shoulders above anything around. TMG is now at version 4.0c and is still way ahead of the rest of the genealogy programs available. It assumes nothing and is effectively unlimited in the data that may be entered in the program. I say effectively because the real limiting factor is the size of your computer and hard drive. I have about 35,000 persons entered in my main dataset and about two dozen other datasets (mostly copies of dataset from cousins and other researchers). There are many that have smaller datasets and not a few that have more than I -- some having well over 100,000 persons in their dataset. Soon after I began using the program, I became a beta tester which allows me to see some of the neat new features that will be in new versions. Also I write a column of tips about TMG in each issue of Everton's Genealogical Helper Magazine. Some of the earlier articles may be seen on the TMG Tips website (URL below). Some samples of the reports from TMG may also be seen on my personal website (URL below). There is other information there about TMG and links to websites of other users and to the website of Wholly Genes (the vendor). Browse around, I think you'll find it interesting. Most FTM users are more than happy to switch to TMG and wish they had been using it all along. The program has a 90-day money back, so you can try the program and see whether you will like it. I think you will. ---------- Lee Hoffman/KY E-mail: lhoffman@acm.org TMG Tips: <http://www.tmgtips.com> My website: <http://www.tmgtips.com/lhoffman> -------------- A user of the best genealogy program, The Master Genealogist (TMG)

    2. Donna, James H. Dulaney is also the nephew of Frances Dulaney who married Patrick Woods in Feb 1813 in Kentucky and then they moved to Howard county with Patrick's children from his first marriage and had three sons of their own in Howard county. It is hard to tell how and why James H. wound up in Howard county, but he certainly has a lot of descendants in this part of the state. Vicki

    3. Eugene Maupin's work was never printed as such. Some of it had been copied by other cousins, without giving him credit. Some of it was published by William Harris Miller in his "History of Madison County...". Even at that he died before his final work was completed. Dorothy Maupin Schaffett based much of her work on that of Eugene, following his numbering system, etc.. She has given full credit to that work which was included. Bonnie L. 1. [MAUPIN-L] E-MAIL BOUNCES
    2. Hi Cousins: For those of you who have a lot of stored incoming e-mail, I'm asking you if you will go through and delete what you don't need. Why? I'm starting to get bounces from addy's where the e-mail boxes have reached their limit. When this happens, as I have the bounces for this list, only, set for 8, after 8, if the system is sure, the person will be automatically unsubscribed and I don't want anyone thinking it was my doing or lose any cousins on the list.. My other lists are all set at 3, which is the average. I have one list member who has not been automatically unsubscribed as the system isn't sure what the problem is and there have been around 130 bounces so far! :( As you can see, by the time your mail boxes reach their limit there is no way to get hold of you. So, PLEASE don't let that happen. Best, Cuz Sandi Carter
