To change email address: You have to unsubscribe then resubscribe using new email address. This is the way it's done on all the other lists that I'm on- should be the way for this one also. Linda
Below is the reply I sent to someone else, slightly revised.. I hope it works for you.. Ellie ================================= << I am on AOL also.. Good idea... Go to the blue bar at the top of your screen and pull down "MY AOL" that you see.. The choices are then listed for you .... click SCREEN NAMES... You will then find the line that says CREATE a new screen name. You can then give yourself a new name... enter the information they ask for.. You then need to unsubscribe with the present name.. then sign off.. Go back in using your new screen name.. and re-subscribe to the MAUPIN list.. you should be in business.. >>
I will also be interested in the reply, as I need to do the same thing. There is so much Maupin mail and I really don't want to Unsubscribe, but may have to if I can't set up another e-mail address just for Maupin mail. Thanks for any help! Gail Maupin-Jones
I recently talked to a person who is descended from Vernon Mauppin and Lorene Woods of Wynne, Arkansas. This couple would have been born around 1910-1915. The "family lore" has it that these Mauppins came to Arkansas directly from Germany, but I find that hard to believe. I suggested that they might be Huguenots who fled France to Germany and then emigrated to the U.S. One can easily see that "Mauppin" is not a German name.... Does anybody on the list have any Maupins in Arkansas? I know I need to go and check the 1910 or 1920 census, but I am having trouble walking due to tearing my Achilles tendon, and I have to put that trek off for awhile. Strangely enough, this ancestor is the oldest one that the Mauppin I talked to knows anything about! I found myself saying "What, you can't even get back to the 1800's?" but, I guess some people just aren't interested in finding out about their ancestors. thanks for any help Pat celtic@ticnet.com

I'm not sure how to go about changing my email name on this list. I want to change to a new screen name. Does anyone know where I need to go to have this done. I need to change from westabot@aol.com to maupintalk@aol.com. I have to direct the Maupin mail to sort out my email better. How do I do this? Thanks for any help offered. Phyllis Abbott

Elzinna "Maud" Thompson Maupin was the wife of John T. Maupin. She (Elzinna) had a daughter named MATTIE. A.D. Crawford, and A.L. Maupin, I am assuming are people, as they witnessed Elzinna and John T. Maupin's marriage and I have a letter to John T. Maupin from A.D. Crawford. -----Original Message----- From: KacyJim@aol.com <KacyJim@aol.com> To: MAUPIN-L@rootsweb.com <MAUPIN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, November 19, 2000 6:53 PM Subject: Re: [MAUPIN-L] John Thomas & George F., Roscoe Lee >Sorry, it is me again... I have in my notes that Betsy was the daughter of Daniel "Tough" Maupin and his first wife, Martha Ballard. Donna Duwe dlduwe@aol.com
Sorry, it is me again... What is " Elizzinna " ? Is it a town and if so how does it figure into the Maupins ? Jim Dillman
Lee, The picture you refer to as Maud I assume is Maud, Missouri. I would love to have a copy of it. I was back there just a few weeks ago and visited Clarence and Hannibal and do not know why I did find out where Maud was and go there. Maybe next time. Thanks, Jim Dillman

Bettye, A very good thought. Other things we need to remember in that time frame are... 1. On the average one in four children died before their first birthday. 2. Disease such as measles, typhus and diphtheria were often lethal, especially to the very young and elderly. 3. Children who died in infancy left gaps in the birth order, but often were unnamed or the names were lost with time. 4. If the husband went off to military service, or for other reasons, there could be a long gap. -- Loren <kycollja@midusa.net> {:-)> HOKC *))))) TSG, USAF, Retired >From Iola, in the rolling hills of SE Kansas

Good Afternoon!!! Thomas Maupin, son of Daniel Maupin and Margaret Via, was neither a purchaser or a seller of land in Albemarle County. His father gave him part of the Land Grant he, Daniel, had gotten. When Thomas died he left it to his brother Gabriel Maupin who thereafter sold it back to Daniel. Well, that was off the top of my head, and one shouldn't do that. I would have sworn that I had notes on Thomas buying and selling land. Hi again, Should have asked that you indicate pictures of specific graves you want, unless you want them all. Will be glad to send any or all. If I group them, you would need an unzipping program, or I can send them individually. Let me know. My best, Patricia
Thanks Kathy, William and Jim (?) for the info on these brothers. Can someone tell me what A.L. (Maupin) and A.D. (Crawford) stand for? I have a picture of the saloon, and the mining claim and the cattle/sheep ranch. Also have John's "baptismal certificate" for the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Let me think........what else may be in my tinbox full of goodies.....(all papers belong to George and John) I have ledgers and letters. I have one letter from A.D.Crawford to John concerning one of the mining claims and it has a "treasure" map with it. I also have whiskey glasses from saloon. I think I have a picture of Elizzinna and of Maud. As you can see I have alot of goodies, but didn't have alot of info about what I had. If you would like copies of some of these papers let me know. It may be a few weeks before I can get to it though, as my husband is preparing to leave for Bosnia in a couple of weeks, so I am not doing alot of "geneology" right now. William, yes I would like to be in the directory and I would like one, but I forgot how much $ and where to send. Here is my info: Lineage: Gabriel~Marie Daniel~Margaret John Sr.~Frances Dabney Thomas~Judith Cobbs John Dabney~Mary Tabitha Cobbs Charles Morris~Elizabeth Barton George Franklin~Ella May Brooks (Platt) Myrtle Ila~August Triechler Helen Triechler~Myles Johnson Carol Johnson~Jim Burgess Leanna Burgess(Me)~Steve Veazey Leanna Veazey 2390 Grant 10 Sheridan, AR 72150 (870) 942-7360 or (870) 917-2109 Is that all you need? Thanks so much everybody for all the help and information. Leanna (also known as LEE)
