Hi - I have watched the Maupin list for a couple of years but have never contacted you. I descend from John Downey Maupin/Elizabeth Richardson. My father worked on this line for many years in the 1970's and had a lot of errors due to the similarity of names in the families. I started collecting Maupin information but stopped when I was told that John Downey Maupin was the illegitimate son of Leah Downey. I am now working on this line again. My line from John Downey Maupin is his son, John Maupin/Mary Ann Taylor who came to Oregon in the 1850's with some of her family. I live in Oregon and like to research the early Oregon families; our State Archives has many documents available for genealogical research at a very reasonable price. Good Morning Group!!! I ordered a copy of the Beshoar book on inter-library loan and it came yesterday. Here is the information you will need if you would like to try and get it through inter-library loan. TITLE: HIPPOCRATES IN A RED VEST AUTHOR: BARROW B. BESHOAR PUBLISHER: AMERICAN WEST PUBLISHING COMPANY DATE OF PUBLISHING: 1973 CALL NUMBER: 920/B46b I got my copy from Independence Community Junior College Library, P. O. Box 708, Independence, KS 67301. It is my understanding that they loan to out of state Libraries. I plan to return this copy the last week in December, so perhaps you should check with your local Library and see it you can order it. You will need a current Library Card. If you have any questions please e-mail me at my private e-maill address: maupinreunion@par1.net I have not had very much luck scanning pages and sending them but I can answer questions about the book and can give brief digests of the material it contains concerning the Maupin family. I would like to mention that there are references to Kit Carson, Bat Masterson, and of course Jesse & Frank James. Dr. Beshoar certainly knew many well known and famous people during his lifetime. Hi All: You might want to check the SSDI as it's a very good research resource. Best, Sandi Carter SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX (SSDI) UPDATE. The October 2000 SSDI update is in place. 185,592 new records were added and the new total is 64,731,293. See http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/
Hello! Hope that some cousins can respond to this in the affirmative! I just recently found 6 postcards from 1908 -1916 that were correspondance between my g.grandmother Lillie Bibb Maupin (wife of Charles Clark Farrar) and her mother Emma Pocahontas Maupin (2nd wife of James Rosser Maupin, his first wife I have been told was a cousin, Lucy Ann Maupin). In the correspondance, the names of Lillie's brothers, Stuart & Clay were mentioned. Someone named Ada was referred to as well (do not know her connection, perhaps sibling of Lillie). Lillie's postmark was Ivy Depot, Va. and her mother Emma's postmark was Glendower, Va. I assume that Glendower is near Scottsville, Va. as my gg-gran. James R. Maupin is supposed to be buried there. Barb Taylor was kind enough to fill me in on some details that I was not aware of. Lillie Maupin, Theopolis Clay Maupin (m.Henrietta Durham) & Stuart Maupin, have siblings I have been told, a Lynwood/Linnwood H. Maupin (m.Maggie B. Mathews) & Gertrude Maupin (m.John H. Beach) and perhaps a Gabriel. I have yet personally to find these last three siblings., but, if anyone else is connected to these individuals, I could use some assistance.
