Hi, I'm really new to all of this. Please someone tell me a little something more about this Book of Dorothy's that everyone is talking about. Is it close to the same book that is written by Linda Miller ? I am so wanting to learn more about my family history and ofcourse would want any and all information that I could obtain about them. Thanks, Brenda Maupin Ballard

Do I still owe and if so, where do I send the money and how much? >> Hi Mickie and Group: Nobody paid for a book way back when. Dorothy just recently received the third edition of the book and now is the time to get with it! LOL Send a check for $40.00 per book, which includes postage to: Mrs. Dorothy M. Shaffett 1819 N. 82nd Street Kansas City, KS 66112-2005. It would be helpful to Dorothy if you also enclose one of your address labels so she can just peel and stick it on the package to save time. Best, Cousin Sandi
Hi All: The below addys were subscribed twice to the list so I unsubscribed the duplicates. I didn't want you to panic when you got your notice of that fact. Now you won't be getting duplicate messages. Best, Cuz Sandi Carter mosbycat@inna.net Norma.Nungester@uc.edu cobb@socket.net star58@thegrid.net

Robert, The book list taken at Charlottesville in October, was "The Official List" and those who signed also made payment to Dorothy. The books on that list are also the first being mailed out. The list - as posted on this list - was a tentative list. NO - repeat - NO - funds were solicited or collected. The list was presented to Dorothy as an estimate of - desired - copies so Dorothy would have an idea how many to order. The orders are being filled in the order which received, by Dorothy, along with payment. If - repeat - IF - there are any copies remaining they will probably be offered for sale at the Fulton reunion in June 2001. ***** In clarification ***** 1. The first edition - printing - was in 1993 - about 500 copies. 2. The second edition - printing - was in 1994 - about 500 copies. There were some additions and corrections, but did not - repeat - NOT - change the page numbering system, nor the index. 3. This - the third printing - was in 2000, about 300 copies. It is identical - repeat - IDENTICAL - to the second printing and printed from the stored printing plates. No - repeat - NO - changes - of any kind - were made. 4. The INDEX - is NOT - a complete index. It is a good index and reasonably complete through the first 3 generations. 5. It is very doubtful that there will ever be more reprints. If you fail to obtain your desired copy/copies you will need to locate the nearest LDS Family History Center and order the book - on microfilm. Time is passing... -- Loren <kycollja@midusa.net> {:-)> HOKC *))))) TSG, USAF, Retired >From Iola, in the rolling hills of SE Kansas
William: Does Dorothy have the books now, and can send them ASAP?? Reason for asking is I was getting one for my father's birthday. The other is for me <g>. Thank you! Brenda
Hi, I'm new to this site. Would someone please tell me what "Dorothy's Book" is! If it has to do with the Gabriel Maupin's I would so like to order one. Thank you, Brenda Maupin Ballard
Would someone please reprint the list of orders for Dorothy's book? I don't recall whether I reserved 2 or 3. John Maupin
__________________________________ Dorothy is Dorothy Maupin Shaffett - 1819 N,. 82nd St. - Kansas City KANSAS 66112. She published the book several years ago but the interest recently has been overwhelming. It tells the history of Gabriel and offers proof of his marriage, etc. The book is $40.00 (which includes mailing) and I would suggest you order promptly as she has a limited number of copies. The reprint is an exact copy of the original. Good luck. Bettye Page Maupin (Mrs. Max Gail) Maupin-Rolla MO - mgm148@rollanet.org _________________________ >Hi, I'm new to this site. List members, I am posting this at Cousin Sandi's suggestion. I now have in my possession the two book set by G. Glenn Clift: "Kentucky Marriages 1797-1865 and Kentucky Obituaries 1787-1854". I will do lookups if you have patience with me as I work full time. I will answer the requests but it may take me a little bit. Email me privately so we don't tie up the list though if you don't mind. Vicki cintrfire810@cs.com
Good Evening!!! When I talked with Dorothy today she ask me to announce again to everyone that they can order the books at anytime. She has already started processing the orders. The address again is: Dorothy M. Shaffett, 1819 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, KS 66112-2005, make checks payable to Dorothy. The cost of the book is $40, which includes postage. This book is the exact same as the second edition, no additions, no corrections. She had 300 printed. This will be the last printing during Dorothy's lifetime. William

A FEW THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR by Nicol Wieme nicolgw@rochester.rr.com http://www.nicol.wieme.com I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous new year. I just wanted to remind everyone that this is the time of year when all the newbies arrive with their unbridled enthusiasm as well as their lack of netiquette. Let us all remember: -- how exciting those jokes were to forward to friends. -- when we assumed that all Smiths were related. -- when we didn't know that all CAPS are considered shouting. My (Sandi Carter) own addition to this is that we must understand that not all see that well and they do use ALL CAPS in their email, so give them a break, please. I know you all will since you are all a great group. -- when we never heard of list vs. digest mode. -- when we first found that spell-check button. -- when we realized just how important an "Accurate Subject Line" really is. -- when we accidentally sent that dirty joke to the list. -- when we read that dirty joke on a list. -- when we couldn't unsubscribe from a list no matter what. -- when we felt it was our civic duty to forward all virus warnings as instructed. -- when we believed all those hoaxes sent to us. -- when we made our first online discovery. -- when we felt confident enough to assist someone new. * * * * *
