I believe the nose to be fat and big, at least thats what my dad had. And my dad and most of his brothers, at least the ones I knew, were pretty short. Maybe that was in their later years. My sisters and I are all pretty short too. I'm 5'3 and shrinking!
I have an idea for the corrections and additions to Dorothy's book. After putting them here on the List, how about everyone putting their corrections at the MyFamily.com websites that have been created for the various children of Daniel Maupin and his wife Margaret Via. That way the corrections will be there for those who come "on board" later on. Also, a place to put the additons and corrections for all to see and use was one of the purposes of these websites being created, as I recall. Anyone who needs an invitation to join the Jesse Maupin and Lucy Jones MyFamily.com group should send a request to me and I add them as members and they will receive their username and password to access the website. For what it's worth and maybe this belongs on the chat site. If so, to those that will be irritated please accept my apology ahead of time. I'm doing this from work and don't have access to the chat line from here and no time to it from home. That said: My line of Oregon Maupin's are also known for their big nose with a bump/hump on it and blue eyes. Also for their very strong opinions, loud voices and when together they'd all literally talk at once and that didn't bother anyone! My line of Maupin's were tall. Men and women could both be 6 foot plus. Not all, but was not unusual. Linda Noel Reedsport, Oregon Quoting GRNSPRT94@aol.com: > Hey I'm interested in this Maupin Nose! With the corrections for the book what would be the best, to mark directly in the book or just slip of paper with the corrections in the book? Jackie
Thanks Loren, I will be in touch with William also. You and I have corresponded before. You know it is really funny, a few years ago when I contacted Dorothy (via someone who gave me her address as a researcher), I knew nothing of her book. I gave her all of my info that I had on my Silas Maupin line forward and was mostly just curious if we were even related. Lo and behold she writes me back, tells me about her book, tells me that we are related, and copies me the info on her book from page 180 and was also thrilled to know about Silas's real name and his wife Martha Bukey. I sent her copies of all of my info from my Maupin family Bible (1865 type) and she has been generous with providing me info back on my line.....what a wonderful lady. I was in no way criticizing the book or her and just wanted others to have further information. I have been in correspondence with William also this past year and have forwarded him copies of my line forward and copies of family Bible and other related goodies. Will get my stories all put down in formal format on my computer and share them with others and for William's newsletter. The ones of the homesteading and Civil War are wonderful. Thanks for taking the time to correspond with me. Sincerely, Susan (in San Diego)

Hi Cousins: I wanted to wait a tad longer to state that there is going to be, hopefully, another Maupin picnic in Southern Californa. The reason I'm starting to nag <BFG> to see who can come and when is that cousin Phyllis Bauer is out here in the Springs until 29 March. Oh, that's what we call Palm Springs. Okay, for those of you who think you can come to this picnic I need weekends that you have available. We can zero in on the place later. Since it's raining like crazy here in Simi Valley as I type, and we don't know what the weather will be like for the rest of this month, February, or March, we could, if it's raining not to hard, have Plan B that would mean meeting in a restaurant. Anyway, I want all to get their thinking caps on and start posting dates available. We did that for the Santa Barbara picnic. Also, while at our library today, looking for SO CA Fitzpatrick names of people who might be related to me, it dawned on me to look in our phone book at home for Maupin people in Simi. I found three listed: Lori, T. and Tom. Does anyone relate to these people? I know it isn't much to go on. I'm willing to call the one with no snail mail addy and write to the other two. HELP! Cuz Sandi Carter
