    1. [MAUPIN-L] Re: anne larchevasque
    2. Hello Cousins, I was looking for information on Anne Larchevasque on various sites. I used L'Archevasque, Larchevesque, and other variations. As I was looking in Rouen, Normadie, France, I found a Guillaume "William" Larchevé(s)que married to Jeanne Alère. For a time, they lived in Dieppe, Rouen, France, which if memory serves me correctly is supposed to be a possible birth place for our Anne. They had a son named Claude Larchevé(s)que born about 1620 in St. Avoye de Grugny, Rouen, Normandie, France and died 5 May 1659 in Quebec, Canada. This Claude married 6 Feb 1645 Marie Simon, daughter of François Simon and Louise Lemoine. I was wondering if this Larchevé(s)que line could be any relation to our Anne Larchevasque, since both families were in Normandie. This is just me being curious. Thanks. Your cousin, Bradley C. 3. FROM ME TO YOU............... My Christmas Card List There is a list of of folks I know All written in a book And every year at Christmas time I go and take a look. And that is when I realize Those names are all a part Not of the book they're written in But deep within my heart. For each name stands for someone Who has touched my life sometime, And in that meeting they've become A special friend of mine. I really feel that I'm composed Of each remembered name, And my life is so much better Than it was before they came. Once you've known that someone All the years cannot erase The memories of a pleasant word Or of a friendly face. So never think my Christmas cards Are just a mere routine Of names upon a list that are Forgotten in between. For when I send a Christmas card That is addressed to you, It is because you're on the list Of folks I'm indebted to. And whether I have known you For many years or few, The greatest gift that God can give Is having friends like you! Happy Holidays, Carolyn Farmer

    3. There is a new book hot off the press about Port Republic VA. It's title is "Port Republic", The History of a Shenandoah Valley River Town. It was actually written during the late 20s or early 30s, but has just been published. The following Maupin's are mentioned: Daniel James A. Josephine Laura V. Mary A. T.L. tyre Col. W.A. William Allen William Henry Harrison William J. Maupin/Lamb house There is a picture of the above house and also a picture of William Henry Harrison Maupin taken about 1867/68. Haven't had a chance to read it yet. It's available thru: History Book Society of Port Republic Preservationists, Inc. P.O. Box 82 Port Republic VA 24471. It's $25.00 plus $4.00 postage. Mine was a Xmas present from a Maupin cousin, Tom Aycock, who actually lives in Port Republic now. Thought you all might be interested. Mary

    3. Good Morning Bill, and Cousins, Happy to hear you are still working on the Maupin, Crosthwaite and Hollingsworth lines. When I have "spare time", the Albemarle Co. Johnson/Via and the Hollingsworth/Reed/Reid are the lines I am concentrating on currently. I also have the J. Maupin estate settlement - and know the Hollingsworth, Reed (Reid), Hensley, Hubbards all intermarried. I need to travel to TN and KY (probably next July). I am also working on theory that Rhoda Reed (dtr of Stephen) was of the Cherokee nation. That may be hard to actually prove as we have been attending powwows and have spoken to many N.A. and have been told that if she "left the reservation willingly" and became "white" (or sometime black on the census) that she was "disowned" by the tribe. Isn't this fun - but that is what keeps us going - "that hidden piece of the puzzle". The is probably going to be one other missing daughter, Margaret. Still working on her. The marriage records for these two daughters are yet to be found, but the early work of a descendant says there were eleven children. Three of the Hollingsworth's were involved with John Maupin's estate settlement in 1824, John and William were apprasiers with Howard Maupin. Beasley Hollingsworth purchased items and the sale of John's belongings. These three Hollingsworth were brother to Isaac Hollingsworth the (by 1824) deceased husband of Sarah Maupin.
