I think i'll stick to the original oldies ;-), in old books they were actually closer in time with the real information. I have seen this book also, and it has much person information that could not possibly be known now, the little details I mean, like how a person looked if there was no photo and they were still living at that time or how they acted, temper,etc. Along with the dirty details those are afraid to mention in some of the new books, or that they don't know because they have not lived the life as the old authors did. As well as all resouces noted in the book.. I like that part, it gives you places to verify the findings in it. You are right, use the book as "source" only, as with all books, including Dorothy Shaffett's book, any and all authors of them will tell you that. FYI: I would not send this except for the fact the page has many names and dates on it, such as names with birth or death dates of several Maupin family members. The book is the W. H. Miller History from 1907. It has Maupins, Woods, Collins, Oldhams, Wallace, Miller lines. Many corrections have been discovered since 1907. I, personally - please note "I", would not purchase the book. You can find the book in most large genie libraries - use the info as a "source only". Maupin, Charles E. Charles E., entered a state of eternal praise with our Lord December 21, 2002. He entered this life March 5, 1920 in Oklahoma City, where he lived most of his life. Charles was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers: Chapman 'Buzz' Maupin, Norton Maupin and Corey Maupin; and one sister Virginia 'Sissy' Cooper. He is survived by: his wife, Hazel, of the home; stepsons: Ken Outhier of Yukon and Joe Smithers of Oklahoma City; daughter, Yvette Justus of California and stepdaughter, Diane Coberley of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Nova Moss of Oklahoma City and Jane Egli of Sunnyvale, California; one aunt, Mary Alice Jones of Moore; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles served his Lord and Savior all of his life. He was a member of Jefferson Heights Baptist Church for 31 years and taught a Sunday school class there for 30 years. He was most proud of the time he served as School Principal at the Jefferson Heights Academy during the 82-83 school year. Charles, and his loving wife Hazel, recently built a new home in Moore, necessitating transfer of their church membership to Southgate Baptist Church. They left behind many friends in Christ at Jefferson Heights, and were rapidly developing new friends in Christ at Southgate. He married his loving wife Hazel, Valentine's Day, 1971. During their 31 years of marriage, they enjoyed a wonderful life together, serving their God through service to their church, traveling, and being with friends. Hazel is a wonderful cook, and their home was the center of many gatherings. During his high school years at Central High School, class of 39, he developed a love for literature, science, classical music, and electronics, and earned his radio license W5HQM, which he held for the remainder of his life. Charles continued his education in Oklahoma, working his way through college, earning a B.S. from Central State College in Edmond and a M.S. from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Charles volunteered for service during World War II, earning the rank of Lieutenant in the U.S. Maritime Service. He served as the Radio Operator aboard the M.V. Cape Trafalgar, S.S. James Roy Wells, and M.V. Roband Witch, earning campaign decorations for service in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean. During his working life, Charles taught College Level Courses at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and Connars State College in Warner. He also worked 4 years as a Charter Transmitter Engineer at KWTV Channel 9 before joining the FAA Academy in 1958. He taught Electronics at the FAA Center until his retirement in 1979. During his retirement years, Charles enjoyed the time to pursue his passions; service to God, service to his family, ham radio operations, classical music, old movies, and crossword puzzles. He never lost his love for Central High School, and served as a host at the Central High School Museum for many years. For this service, he was awarded the Cardinal Service Award from the Oklahoma County Historical Society. Charles was a Godly Man, an Intellectual Man, and a Renaissance Man. He lived a full and fascinating life, and the world is a better place for him having lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 95641 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73143. Services to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday December 24, 2002 at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel.
