Joe, I read the birth records the same as you. Her last name was listed as Stewart. Now I'm wondering just who this James Morgan Mattingly was though. Anyone have any ideas? The only one I've seen wasn't born until about 1864. Regarding the Stinnett's, there were several of them around; in Jessamine County, 1850 census, I found a Lindsey Stinnett with a daughter named Lucinda, aged 23 (there was also a 25 year old James listed and could have been the husband of Lucinda); a Jackson Stinnett with a 12 year old Lucretia; and a Ruben/Reuben Stinnett with a 2 year old Luticia. Could the 12 year old girl have married a J. M. Mattingly that we haven't identified or perhaps married James Morgan and her name was listed wrong on the birth records? ***************** I have this guy as James Morgan Mattingly. Lucretia Stinnet is listed as Stewart on a microfilm of births of Davies Co. They had John b. 17 Oct 1856 and Elizabeth A. b.27 June 1859. Acts of Marriage St. Catherine's Church, New Haven, Nelson Co. Ky Misc. marriage records J.M Mattingly & Lucretia Stinnet JAN 8 1856 Who is J.M. ? Is he a John or James or another J name? Still looking for my elusive John (grin) Saw that this Lucretia might be called LUCY.
