I've been asked by a Mattingly family member about a Fr. Larry Mattingly who officiated at funeral mass in a Catholic Church in Austin (Texas) "some time ago." The person wanted to know who this was and what his Mattingly ancestry might be. There was a Fr. Lawrence Mattingly, who was pastor of a parish in Granite City IL back in the 60s. He has been deceased for a long time and was born in 1908. I doubt that he generally went by Larry. HIS LINE: Fr. Lawrence Mattingly son of Emmett Francis Mattingly son of Francis Mattingly (my great great uncle) son of James Mattingly son of John Mattingly son of Henry Mattingly son of John Mattingly son of John Mattingly son of Caesar Mattingly son of Thomas Mattingly I'm pretty sure I've seen reference to another Fr. Lawrence Mattingly, who was a Conventual Franciscan, and was their provincial superior for awhile. I think he has also died. I have no idea how he fits into the family. I suspect he comes from one of the Kentucky lines, and that someone on the Mattingly forum could probably ID him.
