This Joseph Mattingly sounds a lot like the son of Lucius/Luke and the brother of Barton Mattingly and Jeremiah Mattingly of Union County. I wonder? Barton went on to MO and died there in 1833 and Jeremiah was there for a while, his daughters stayed there and were married there, I think and he, Jeremiah, came back to KY. Is the Upper Louisiana Territory the same as Missouri ??
