Hi list, Start with Ruth, sorry Ruth, I still haven't found anything else on our Jesse L. or Elisha C. Mattingly. Except maybe this Elisha C.1920 census Elisha C Mattingly Age: 33 years Estimated birth year: 1886 Birthplace: Kentucky Race: White Home in 1920: Morganfield, Union,Kentucky Roll: T625_600 Page: 8A Frances Braddock Holberg also remembers Thomas Jefferson Mattingly dying in the poor house. I will give her a call and take notes this time. I am in Colorado & she is in Chicago, the two of us hope to make a trip to Ky together this summer. We went in the fall and didn't get much done. I think that Charles and Anna being first cousins was possible because they were only married 5 1/2 months when James Leo was born. uhoh I have a photo of her headstone if anyone would like a copy. Also a photo of her and William or Charles, which ever he is called. Charles seemd to be the norm for baptisms (his and his childrens), but on Nancy Anna's headstone he is noted as William and she as Anna. As for poor Thomas Jefferson, I think you are correct William. I have a daughter that is 4' 8" and she has a heck of a time, even in a family of short people.I wonder how tall he was. I understand that Tom used to play the fiddle to supplement his income. sandi
