Henry Mattingly died on 7-24-1866 at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 7 days. His wife, Sarah, died 1-7-1868 at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 7 days. Both are buried in the Bethel Cemetery in Veale, Daviess County, Indiana on county road 50 west, about three miles south of Washington, Daviess County, Indiana. There were many Mattingly's in Daviess County, Indiana and some of them were descendants of John Baptist Mattingly and Ann Spalding. Grandsons, John B. 1814, Augustus 1806, Raphael 1807, James 1809, and Sylvester 1801 were a few. A grand-daughter Mary Ann Mattingly Taylor was another as well as Matilda Mattingly Quiggins. Many of these are buried in St. Peters Cemetery in Veale, Veale Creek Cemetery, and Bethel Cemetery near Henry and his wife Sarah. Each of these were children of John Mattingly and Mary Ann Wimsatt. I wonder if Henry is somehow related to this line but I can't place Henry at all unless it was Henry, son of John Townley who had married Sara Larily in 1810. I am not so certain that this Henry was in fact a son of John Townley either. There was a Henry Mattingly on the 1810 census of Mason County, between the ages of 16 and 25 but he had no children at the time.
