Have been scanning the 1910 census of Missouri and found a Cosmos Mattingla, aged 78, born Kentucky, residing in Moreland, Scott County, page 96B. His wife is shown aged 80 and her named looks to me to have been Parsina, born Tennessee. That this was Cosmas Mattingly, son of Felix and Matilda Spalding Mattingly, seems certain enough although I was admittedly surprised to find him there.

William, thanks for the Cosmos Mattingly data. I tried to trace him through other census records and couldn't find him but was able to trace his son, Philip "Two Papa". At least I think this is him.
