I had thought that George had moved to Kentucky and that he appeared there on the 1820 census but now I'm wondering if that was true. We've discussed this George several times and he seems to appear on the 1860 census of Washington, DC at age 59 with wife Mary 58 and children: John 25, Sienna 20, and Clara Brown 24. I think George was the son of George Mattingly and Elizabeth Wimsatt and the age is fairly close and according to reports George married Mary Shannon on 6-23-1823, supposedly in Kentucky, but again I wonder if this is accurate. The children of George and Mary were reportedly: Catherine Arthelia, George E., Cordelia, John H., Sienna, Clara V., and Martina. This looks pretty much like the same family, minus a few children, in DC. during 1860.
