I wish I had more time to dev ote to this, but I don't. Msgr. Herman Mattingly talks about the three children of William and Mary Mattingly (at Somerset OH) in his book, "The Descendents of Henry Mattingly (c.1750-1823)" (published privatey in 1969),p. 196, and concludes they are not the children of William and Sarah (of Zanesville OH), but he does not identify where they fit in. I feel certain Herman was the one who published the Somerset baptismal records you referred to. Several times people have spoken of Patrick Schmeltzer and his address with reference to Msgr. Herman's "Mattingly Family in Early America." I would suggest that you ask Mr. Schmeltzer if he can help you find a copy of "The Descendents of Henry Mattingly (c.1750-1823). It would be most helpful with any Mattinglys in Allegany County MD or Muskingum County OH. Fr. Blaine Burkey
