I believe that Henry's middle initial is "C", is that correct? Joseph William 12-5-1850, married Susan Victoria dau of Barton Mattingly and Rose Ann Jones I have Susan Victoria's husband as James William Clark Buckler 12/5/1850-12/26/1898. Wonder which is correct... I do know that William as his middle name is correct. Thanks, Betty

    2. William R. Mattingly
    3. ******************** Francis Mattingly was a son of Edward Mattingly and Alice Lancaster. Edward was a son of William Mattingly and Mary Catherine Spalding. Line of Thomas Mattingly, II. Never have gotten a handle on Mary Miles yet but I think she was born around 1823. What I have on Henry came mostly from Dolores Bohn and his nickname was Cudge, suggesting a middle name starting with C. I've added only a little to what Dolores provided and my note are as follows: (Henry and his wife were residing in Loretto, Marion County, Kentucky during the 1880 census with five children and his father in the home. Cause of death: probably ruptured appendix; contributory, peritonitis; duration, 2 days. Married by Rev. Pol Fermont at St. Charles Catholic Church. Their witnesses were Thomas A. Thompson and Ada Hicks. His obituary, forwarded by Dolores Bohn, was in The Lebanon Enterprise, Friday, 2-19-1926. "CUDGE" MATTINGLY IS TAKEN BY GRIM REAPER. Henry Mattingly, 75 years old, who was familiarly known to his friends as "Cudge" Mattingly and was widely known in the western part of the county, died at an infirmary in this city Saturday night at 10 o'clock. Death was due to an intestinal trouble and followed an illness of about two weeks. The body was taken to his home at St. Mary's Sunday morning, and on Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Michael Jaglowicz of St. Mary's College, where held at St. Charles church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Mattingly was born in the Loretto section on October 6, 1850, and lived on a farm in that neighborhood until two years ago when he retired and moved to St. Mary. On February 6, 1872, fifty-four years ago, he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Buckler of this county. Five children were born of the union four of whom, together with his wife, survive. They are Mrs. Arnold McCauley and Mrs. Sam Thompson of Louisville, Will Lee Mattingly of Raywick and Miss Florence Mattingly of St. Mary. The fifth child, a daughter, died in early youth. Mr. Mattingly was a good citizen and had many friends not only in the communities where his life was spent but over the county who learned of his death with deep regret.") Mary Eliza 1849, married Henry, son of Francis Mattingly and Mary Miles William, who are the parents of Francis Mattingly & Mary Miles? I believe that Henry's middle initial is "C", is that correct? *********************** His name may well have been Joseph William Clark Buckler but I've only seen Joseph William. Maybe we can find out from an interested researcher.
