Mattingly, a resident citizen of Marion County, Kentucky, being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this as my last will and testament. ITEM 1: I want all my just debts paid as soon after my death as practicable. ITEM 11: I hereby give and bequeath the sum of $25.00 to the Pastor of the Roman Catholic Church at St. Mary's Ky., called St. Charles Church, this sum to be used as an offering in the saying of masses for the repose of my soul: I also give and bequeath the sum of $25.00 to the Pastor of the Roman Catholic Church at St. Mary's, Ky., called St. Charles Church, the sum to be used as an offering in the saying of masses for the repose of the souls of my deceased wives, Annie Mary Mattingly, and Sallie Catherine Mattingly. This is the recorded copy of the will. As such, the signature of C. B. Mattingly is not on this copy. Certainly, it was on the original copy of the will. One of Charles Bernard Mattingly's descendants frequent this line and I'll let him respond if he wishes, however I have not seen nor heard anything which suggest that C. B. was ever married to Sarah Cecelia Buckler and all his children were by his second wife as near as I can tell. It is also my understanding that upon the passing of his second wife, C. B. had the remains of his first wife moved to the same cemetery so that he could be buried between the two women. Charles and both wives are buried in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary, Marion County, Kentucky. His first wife, Sarah Catherine Russell, he wed on 1-27-1880 and she passed away on 8-10-1880. His second wife was Mary Ann Flanagan whom he married on 10-23-1883. Mary Ann passed away on 4-21-1912 and Charles died on 9-10-1915. These are the dates I have and trust they are correct.
