J. Bernard Mattingly, 89, of Chevoit Drive, died Wednesday at his home. He was a native of Marion County, a retired farmer and a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Joseph E. Mattingly of Kansas City, Mo., Charles F. Mattingly of Jeffersontown and James B. Mattingly; a daughter, Mrs. Beulah M. Barr; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange, with burial in Valley of Rest Cemetery there. Visitation is at Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange. Additional Comments: James Bernard Mattingly is the husband of Elsie Jane Mullins. Jean Flack Mattingly, 61, Middletown, died Wednesday at her home. Survivors: her husband, James Bernard Mattingly Sr.; two daughters, Susan Hardwick of Tampa, Fla., and Linda McCandless; four sons, Sonny Graybeal of Leitchfield, Roger Mattingly of Tacoma, Wash., and James Jr. and Marcus Mattingly; a sister, Margaret Freeman of Middletown; three brothers, Edward Flack of Florida, Lester Flack of Skylight and Carroll Flack of Buckner; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Jean and James were divorced at the time of her death.
