In a message dated 6/13/2004 12:08:45 AM Eastern Standard Time, wmatting@cablenet-va.com writes: Mr. Mattingly was born in the Loretto section on October 6, 1850, and lived on a farm in that neighborhood until two years ago when he retired and moved to St. Mary. On February 6, 1872, fifty-four years ago, he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Buckler of this county. Five children were born of the union four of whom, together with his wife, survive. They are Mrs. Arnold McCauley and Mrs. Sam Thompson of Louisville, Will Lee Mattingly of Raywick and Miss Florence Mattingly of St. Mary. The fifth child, a daughter, died in early youth. Thanks William for all the very good information. Now, one more question.....well, maybe two or three. In the 1880 census, there are girls: Mary F, Sallie M, Mary H, Edmie C Who are the two daughters listed above in the obit that married Arnold McCauley & Sam Thompson. Also this Sam Thompson, would he be the son of Goerge Washington Thompson & Susan Ann Bullock? Or who?
