    2. William, here is how I interpret the 1860 for George Austin: 1860 > Kentucky > DAVIESS > OWENSBORO P O Pg 776 HH 911 Geo Mattingly, 57 Farmer Nancy, 52 Domestic Duty John, 28 Farmer Harriett, 25 Domestic Duty Ellen, 23 Domestic Duty Milton, 22 Farm Hand Mary A, 20 Domestic Duty Nancy, 16 Domestic Duty Patrick, 14 Domestic Duty All born Ky I didn't see the J M on the 1860 that you mentioned. Was he in Daviess Co also? There is a J M age 34, with a wife (looks like) Lucretia age 28 with children: George D 8, Mary E 5 Eliza C 1. Sorry, not much help...... The 1850 census shows George and Nancy with a 12 year old son named Milton who I believe was George Milton Mattingly. So far I have not been able to access the 1860 census image for George although the index shows him there as well as a Milton aged 22 and a J. M. aged 22. The 1870 census shows George (his wife deceased) with a son named James aged 32 but no Milton in the home. My reason for looking for this James M. Mattingly is to connect him with a wife. The 1880 Whitesville, Daviess County, Kentucky Census includes James Mattingly, a white male, age 42 (circ 1838) with a 26 year old (circa 1854) wife, Clarer J., born in Indiana. A death certificate for a Clara J. Mattingly, who died on March 7, 1923 at age 68 years, 11 months, 14 days. She was the daughter of Jas. E. Pidgeon and Eloise Irwin, both born in Ohio. Clara was also born in Ohio. She was widowed and lived in the Stanley community. G. A. Mattingly of Stanley was the informant. I'm trying to determine of George Austin had a son named James and if he married Clara Pidgeon.

    2. William R. Mattingly
    3. Betty, I appreciate your looking. I find J. M. Mattingly aged 22 and F. K. Mattingly aged 24 in the home of Mitchell and Sarah Brown in District 2 of Daviess County. Ky. during 1860. But in 1870 a James Mattingly, aged 32, is living in the home of George Austin Mattingly. His relationship is not stated. ******************************************* > William, here is how I interpret the 1860 for George Austin: > > 1860 > Kentucky > DAVIESS > OWENSBORO P O Pg 776 HH 911 > Geo Mattingly, 57 Farmer > Nancy, 52 Domestic Duty > John, 28 Farmer > Harriett, 25 Domestic Duty > Ellen, 23 Domestic Duty > Milton, 22 Farm Hand > Mary A, 20 Domestic Duty > Nancy, 16 Domestic Duty > Patrick, 14 Domestic Duty > All born Ky > > I didn't see the J M on the 1860 that you mentioned.
