Judith, it is my understanding that the wife of Joseph Edward Mattingly was actually named Mary Travis Bowman and that she had first been married to James W. Miller, deceased and had a daughter named Mary Catherine Lillian Miller. Lillian married Jasper Owen Handley. Funeral records of her son, Charles Basil, name her as Minnie M. When Joseph's sister, Eliza Jane married George Warren, Joseph and Minnie were the witnesses for the wedding. Is it possible that Minnie was a nickname? As for Bowman, I know that often the name Boarman became Bowman. Also, it is my understanding that Mary Eliza Warren was born 9-24-1910 and married Henry Theodore Brodfeher on 2-19-1938, with wedding performed by Rev. Harold Witter.
Gosh William, all you have below sounds right. I got my stuff from: BAPTISMAL REGISTER 1858-1889 ST. CHARLES BOROMEO CHURCH, ST. MARY, MARION COUNTY, KENTUCKY, ST. MARY'S COLLEGE REGISTER 1859-1918, Gerald Thompson, 1989, P.O. Box 7, St. Mary, Kentucky, p. 31 Mattingly, Joseph Edward, son of Charles Robert Mattingly & Sallie Elizabeth Buckler, b May 2 1885, bap. May 3, 1885, Spon: Lizzie Mattingly, Marg. note: Joseph E. marr. Minnie Boarman Miller. Mattingly, Eliza Jane, dau. of Charles R. Mattingly & Sarah Eliza. Buckler, b. Jan 18 1887, bap. Jan 22 1887. Spon: Sallie Mattingly. Marg. note: Eliza Jane marr. at St. Charles Ch. Sept. 4 1909, George A. Warren, son of Leo H. Warren & Rose Ann Mattingly. The data for the Mary Eliza Jane Warren came from: DEATH REGISTER 1899-1919 ST. CHARLES CHURCH ST. MARY, MARION COUNTY, KENTUCKY, Thomas Gerald Thompson with Notes by Fr. J. A. Lyons, Pub by. Thomas Gerald Thompson, P. O. Box 7, St. Mary, Kentucky 40063, p. 20 Warren, Mary Eliza. wife of George Warren, dau of C. B. Mattingly & Sallie Buckler, age 26 yrs. From Birk's. Died Feb 19, 1914. Warren, Mary Eliza Jane, dau of George Warren & Mary E. Mattingly, age about 7 mo. Died Aug. 17, 1914. It looks like that Mary Eliza Mattingly Warren died soon after having the child Mary Eliza Jane and the child died at age 7 months. Is this another Mary Eliza Jane baby and the one you have listed as Mary Eliza born in 9/24/1910 lived? Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "William R.
