    1. Re: [MATTINGLY] Augustine Mattingly
    2. William R Mattingly
    3. I wanted to thank everyone who responded regarding Augustine Mattingly. I had the information on him but couldn't find him anywhere on a census record. I am currently in the process of correcting a very critical error in my files involving the Teresa Mattingly who married Edward Mattingly, son of Martin Mattingly, Sr. and Helen Thompson. I had been under the belief that Teresa had been a daughter of John R. Mattingly and Mary Malinda Frank but information from one of our alert co-researchers indicated that was not so. To verify what was being said I went to the 1870 census and sure enough, Teresa was still single and at home with her parents while Edward and his wife, Teresa were married with four children. A part of the information so kindly sent to me by Dolores Bohn, to whom I am very much grateful, is below. This correction process may take a while for the descendants list is long. My appologies to any who may have depended on this information being accurate. "Baptized Teresa Frances Mattingly, 12-21-1842, by Rev. Louis N. Petit at St. Charles Catholic Church; birth date given as 12-03-1842; Sponsor was ? Mattingly an older sister; Parents: Felix Mattingly and Matilda Spalding. Kentucky Death Records Certificate #11881; 3-22-1923; age 80; listed as Teresa Mattingly; died in Marion Co., Ky. Buried, 3-23-1923, in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary's, Ky." On the 1880 Marion County, Ky Census, she is a 38 year old Ky native, living with her husband, Edward Mattingly, and children, Matilda, Mattie, Lena, Martin, Laviell, William, Eliza, Kendrick and Edward Mattingly. On a further note, and as a reminder if some failed to see the message, regarding Edward as a son of Martin, Sr., the following was taken from a Marion County Deed Book 3, page 75, by Karen Fowler Caldwell and I believe, settles Edward as a son of Martin, Sr. "This deed between George Mattingly, Henry Mattingly and Mary A., his wife, John C. Mattingly and Britanna his wife, Martin Mattingly and Sarah E. his wife, Augustine Mattingly and Eulala his wife, Edward Mattingly and Teresa his wife, and Nancy Mattingly of the county of Marion and State of Kentucky of the first part and John P. Osborne of the County and State afore-said of the second part ..... $350, 33 acres of land on the head waters of Prather's Creek and on the East slope of Prather's Knob......" Appears to be dated the first day of March 1866. Each of the Mattingly's listed were sons and a daughter of Martin Mattingly, Sr.
