    1. [MATTINGLY] Re: Mattingly of Charles County
    2. There is at a mention of a James Mattingly in Charles County: "Whereas James Mattingly this day brought before me a small gray mare, branded on the near shoulder and buttock, thus [shows a zero with a strikeover], which sd Mattingly says is troublesome to his plantation. This is to certify that Mattingly has liberty to use the sd mare. Signed Jul 7, 1753 Willm Eilbeck. Recorded Jul 11, 1753." CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND, LAND RECORDS 1752-1756, no author; TLC Genealogy; Miami Beach FLA; 1996. I assume that this is James of Thomas III who married Elizabeth Doyne. There is also a mention of John Mattingly in Charles County: Deed of June 2, 1732, recorded June 9, 1732 by Thos. Dyson Sr of Charles County, witnessed by Geo: Dent, John [his J mark] Mattingly. Land bought from Samuel and Mary Amery. [CHARLES COUNTY MARYLAND LAND RECORDS, 1722-1733; nho author; TLC Genealogy; Miami Beach FLA; 1994.] I'm not sure which John this is but more than likely it is son of Cezar.
