    1. [MATTINGLY] James A. Lewis & Mary Mattingly
    2. William R Mattingly
    3. James Lewis and Mary Mattingly were married in Washington County, Ky. on 12-15-1880 according to the marriage index 1851 to 1900. Mary appears aged 15 on the 1880 census which seems wrong as she was reportedly born between 1859 and 1861. Does anyone have any type of marriage record on James and Mary and a accurate birthdate for her? Also regarding James - We're trying to determine who his parents were: On Mary, the same thing. I currently carry her as a daughter of James Mattingly and Elizabeth Unknown and James Mattingly as a son of Ignatius George and Anna Cissell. This doesn't seem right at all but the age of James on the 1880 census matches well with the age I. G.'s son should have been. My concern here is that I. G. and wife apparently separated/divorced with her moving to Illinois. It would seem more plausible that James was a son of Barnett (son of John Baptist, died 1817). Yep, here he is again! The problem we're having here has to do with the age of this James on the 1850 census. He was shown as 23 at the time. Most researchers show him born about 1825, I think and this could be right but the 1880 census shows him as 45 at the time, suggesting a birth in the year 1835 (I have the date of About 7-3-1834). Does anyone have anything more substantial?
