My great grandfather, Thomas Joseph Mattingly, was married in DC in 1853 by an Episcopal minister, Rev. French S. Evans, and his family was very Catholic. His wife, Anna Reeves, however, I believe was not. They are buried in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
