Ah, that makes it easier and don't fret about typos. I'm the king of error! I don't think we can always put too much emphasis on a couple of years difference either. Still wish I could find a James Mattingly in Illinois. That is, Clay County, Illinois. I find several James in other counties. For example - James Mattingley married Elizabeth Davis in Menard Co. 12-1-1867; James Mattingly & Nettie Higginbottham in Menard Co. 12-24-1865; James to Nancy Freeman in Moultrie Co. 7-7-1845; James A. (W) to Agnes Dunn in Edgar Co. 1-8-1889; and James M. to Ann M. Hart in Knox Co. 5-1-1862. Do you suppose one or more of these might be the son of Ignatius George? *********** PLEASE forgive the typo. The census year was 1870 NOT 1860. So this could still be James son of Barnett. A two year discrepancy is nothing when you're dealing with census records.
