I haven't seen all the John's .Most that I've seen ,because the age was way off , I disregarded .BUT I believe a year could just be the time of the birth month or they were almost a certain age so they gave that age to the census taker. That would make Leonard Mattingly and Nancy Spencer who had a with son, John, born 1831, a good candidate to check into. I have personal knowledge of a birthdate that shows up one year older on the census in one of my other lines. I'll see what I can find out about Leonard and son. Thanks both of you.
