    1. Re: [MATTINGLY] Wm. Mattingly again
    2. Karen Fowler posted the item below on James Mattingly and Margaret Cash and a lot more if you want. But no son William is noted. Bob Alvey From Karen Fowler Caldwell James Mattingly left 2 children at the time of his death. They were Ann "Nancy" Mattingly who married William Wheatley and Caleb Mattingly who married Sarah Priscilla Maddox. There are guardian bonds at the Washington Co. Courthouse and Charles Browning was appointed as their guardian. Also, Washington Co. Deed Book D, page 195, 12/19/1812, William Cambron and Rebecca, his wife convey to Caleb and Ann Mattingly, heirs of James Mattingly, deceased, 100 acres of land on Cartwright's Creek. (James paid taxes on this land in 1808 and his entry for 1809 lists James as deceased). This seemed strange to me since both Caleb and Ann were still minors at this time but their mother had already married Charles Browning. In James Mattingly's probate records there shows a payment to William Cambron. I assume that James had bought this land but still owed money on it at the time of his death. When the property was finally paid for, the land was deeded to his heirs. I don't have paper proof in front of me on the William Wheatley and can remember nothing about him off the top of my head. I will have to dig out some folders later and find my proof for him. It may have been through a court case that the two were involved in or perhaps when they sold this property. > > I have a William died in Washington Co son of James Mattingly > and Margaret Cash but no verification. > >
