    1. Re: [MATTINGLY] Mattingly Wills
    2. William R Mattingly
    3. There have been a good many Ignatius Mattingly's but the ones I reference below were: Ignatius likely aft 1770, son of Peter Mattingly - Catherine Spalding Ignatius, Sr. 1704 and Sarah then follows Ignatius Jr. 1750, III 1781, and IV 1811. ************* Sr. and Jr. of the Thomas II line (Ignatius, Sr. 1704 to 1789 and 1750 for Jr. to 1807). The early census records of Maryland (1790, 1800, and 1810) show both an Ignatius, Sr. and Jr. during each year. We might surmise these two men were Ignatius, Jr. and III, at least through the year 1800. However in 1810 we still find an Ignatius, Sr. and Jr. Ignatius, IV was not born until 1811 and Ignatius, Jr. was dead by 1807. With only Ignatius, III still alive in 1810 (but may have been in Kentucky by this time), we're obviously looking at a 5th and possibly 6th, Ignatius (perhaps shown as a Jr. to differentiate between the two men). None of the other men named Ignatius and alive in the right time period, seem to fit. Example:
