He would be my great uncle. All I currently have on him is his date of birth. A picture recently surfaced shows him in a Union uniform. We have made many attempts to locate him through various civil war sites. What we have found is that this name appeared under Company K, 3rd KY Cavalry Regiment, but I am not even sure this is right. My brother Walt, the family historian, said family folklore says he was held prisoner of war, released on prisoner exchange, was in bad health, and died shortly after returning back home to St. Marys, Marion County, KY. Walt also says he went by "Billy" and might have enlisted under that. Any ideas or information would be appreciated. George Mattingly
