William, etal. Benedict Mattingly appears to be passed on to another John Baptist. A Couple of years ago, an attempt was made to shoe-horn him into the infamous John Baptist whose Will was made in 1817 Wash Co. and settled in1835. I do not know where he is destined to land - and would not mind having him under John Baptist and wife Spalding - if the shoe fits. Aside from that, Thanks to the Washington County History Book, here is some more on the family. To the authors, along with myself, we have no lead on where they fit in the Mattingly picture: MATTINGLY, CHARLES F. bc1785, m Elizabeth McPherson, 24 Jul 1810, WashCo and 2d m Lusudy McPherson, cous of Elizabeth, children by wife by former marriage took the Mattingly name. Charles Mattingly married Elizabeth C. Herbert 4-18-1848 bond by Benedict Mattingly. Charles Mattingly and Catherine Elizabeth (Herbert) Mattingly are shown on page 4 Washington Co. KY Sept 1845 lists his children as Catherine Cecil, William McPherson, Elizabeth Mattingly, Mildred McPherson and Margaret McPherson. I suspect this is the Elizabeth that married Charles Mattingly in 1810. This would make her an aunt of the Elizabeth McPherson who married Benedict Mattingly ----- Original Message ----- From: <CharleyMoore@cs.com> To: <MATTINGLY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 24, 2004 9:47 AM Subject: Re: [MATTINGLY] John Baptist Mattingly off-spring > William, etal.
