The only thing I've been able to do is partially verify what you have on Rootsweb Melissa; the 1850 census shows Charles H. (father of James Thomas) residing with his mother Elizabeth Monarch Mattingly, in St. Mary's County, Maryland. His father, who you show as Joseph, is dead by this time. I've tried to determine which Joseph this was but I just keep coming up with the possibility that he was the son of John Mattingly and Ann Ford. I've also wondered if this pair might have been the parents of the Henry Mattingly that married Rebecca Burrough's also but I only have two children for them, Joseph and Elizabeth, and John reportedly died about 1773. ********* an anyone help Thomas Johnson with information on this Mattingly?
