    3. You're likely correct. I was looking too and another could have been the son of John Baptist (I shudder to say, died 1817), and also born about 1777 and married to Jane Peterson on 7-1-1801 in Washington County. This guy appears to have had a bunch of kids and none accounted for in my files (is he the one with 6 males under 10 and 5 between the ages of 10 and 16; and 4 daughters under 10 and one between 16 and 26?) ******************* Maybe one of them is William Mattingly b 1777, m. Henrietta Buckman in 1811, Nelson Co. at the age of 34. IN 1820 he would have been 43 yrs old with one son by Henrietta, Cyprian P. born Sept 16, 1812, Washington Co. I always thought he should have been married before this late marriage, but do not have any documentation of such. JB

    3. This William sounds like a true son of John Baptist d. 1817, however, I did not have him b. 1777, I have an unlikely date of 1807 for him, unsourced, so probably a results of a living nightmare after trying to understand his father's estate settlement papers. However this William son of John Baptist d 1817, had an authorized agent to receive his share when the estate was finally distributed in abt 1835, so he was not in Washington County apparently. Maybe he is the husband of the charming Bridget Anna Vessels. He is not as elegant a fit as our first candidate though. JB ******************************************* > You're likely correct.
