Bob, thanks for taking a more detailed look at George Clark. I never take offense at any of this stuff as my only interest is in being as correct as possible. We know what happens when folks take comments too seriously or assume every contrary opinion is a personal attack. I was just looking at it again myself. Originally I had compared the initials in the name indexed as J. C. to the "G" in George, son of Robert. This time I also looked at the way the "I" in Robert's son, Ignatius is formed and have to admit, this could easily be an "I". I don't think it could have been a "J" as the written clearly drops the tail of this letter below the line. Under this interpretation I would assume his first name was Ignatius (?) (his grandfather was an Ignatius). The middle initial is most certainly a "C" but I have no idea what it might have stood for. I'm thinking this I. C. is either the person I have as George, Jr. and brother to Robert or it his brother Joseph (whom I've never found) but as to the latter, I just can not imagine this first initial is a "J". As to Richard, I have some mixed feelings about where he belongs. The William Mudd whom Richard Mattingly, aged 20, was residing with was in Hart County, Ky. I managed to leave that little clue out so will have to include it in the notes. I couldn't remember either and had to go searching. I'm going to give more study to what you wrote but am hoping to get this one, at least, straight at some point. It dawns on me to that there is a lot of misinformation regarding George Mattingly and Elizabeth Wimsatt on the LDS site, posted by someone I never bothered to identify. For example, some of George and Elizabeth's children are listed as children of John Francis Mattingly and Catherine Rebecca Cravens.
