I don't think it is this Joseph since I believe he died 1790: Carol [email protected], will book JJ #1, p 524-525 and I show them he married Elizabeth Monarch after June 7, 1815 Marriages of St. Mary's County, MD 1634-1900 by Margaret K. Fresco Eastern Shore Regional Library, Salisbury, MD 21801. It is confusing in that I have a Charles Hillery, born to Ignatius Benedict Mattingly 1838 in Davies Co, IN-so I do not believe they are the same folk. The James Thomas Mattingly who was born c 1858, and married both Medora Guy and then Ruth A Guy, was the son of George H Mattingly and Martha Mary Brown. This Mattingly family stayed in MD, so I have very little on them. George H was the son of Joseph Mattingly and Elizabeth Monarch. George Mattingly and Elizabeth Wimsatt had a son Joseph that I have no info on. Part of the family went on to KY-but part stayed in the MD, Wash DC area. But again, I just have never followed this line. They all seem to hang out at St. Joseph's RCC, SMC, MD-so the best bet is to check the records for St. Joseph. I would not even be surprised if some of the family members being looked for were buried there. (father of James Thomas) residing with his mother Elizabeth Monarch Mattingly, in St. Mary's County, Maryland. His father, who you show as Joseph, is dead by this time. I've tried to determine which Joseph this was but I just keep coming up with the possibility that he was the son of John Mattingly and Ann Ford. I've also wondered if this pair might have been the parents of the Henry Mattingly that married Rebecca Burrough's also but I only have two children for them, Joseph and Elizabeth, and John reportedly died about 1773. ********* an anyone help Thomas Johnson with information on this Mattingly? He sent me a picture of his grandparents, If you are interested. Please reply directly to him at [email protected] Thanks.
