This is bit off the track for the info on Henry and Sophia but I was wondering about the John Mattingly that you mention below. HEM identified a John Mattingly, Sr that died in Frederick Co in 1773. John, Jr and Amos Mattingly were his executors. I have not a clue as to who this John could have been but he must have been born c. 1720-30 to have had a son old enough to be an executor. I had not thought of the possibility that this John, Jr could have been John Townly, but who knows. William wrote: There are additional documents pertaining to this Henry Mattingly being transcribed at this time and will be posted when completed. As for the Henry of St. Mary's County? He reportely was a son of John. Which John that may have been is currently a mystery. The only one I've familiar with at this time was in Allegany County and I don't believe it was him. Something in the back of my mind says "Could this have been John Townly?"
