I think we agree on everything. The name Boarman and Bowman still gets crossed. 1880 shows her father's name Bowman but again, the census taker was probably spelling as it sounded. Looks like Boarman and Bowman were interchangeable, at least for some folks. On Mary Eliza, wife of George Warren; maybe I got her mixed up with her daughter, Mary Eliza Warren. Wondering where I got the name Mary "Travis" Bowman.Boarman from.
William and list, I have that George A. (Alphonsus) Warren is the son of George Henry Warren and Rose Anna Mattingly. Is this Rose Anna Mattingly the daughter of Barton Mattingly (1784-1860) and Herodia Rose Ann (Jones) Fields? Did she marry a James H. Davis first? There is another nickname for Mary that we don't run across very often and that's Mamie, and Mame. My grandmother was 2nd generation Irish and that is what they called her. Judith, it is my understanding that the wife of Joseph Edward Mattingly was actually named Mary Travis Bowman and that she had first been married to James W. Miller, deceased and had a daughter named Mary Catherine Lillian Miller. Lillian married Jasper Owen Handley. Funeral records of her son, Charles Basil, name her as Minnie M. When Joseph's sister, Eliza Jane married George Warren, Joseph and Minnie were the witnesses for the wedding. Is it possible that Minnie was a nickname? As for Bowman, I know that often the name Boarman became Bowman. Also, it is my understanding that Mary Eliza Warren was born 9-24-1910 and married Henry Theodore Brodfeher on 2-19-1938, with wedding performed by Rev. Harold Witter.
Gosh William, all you have below sounds right. I got my stuff from: BAPTISMAL REGISTER 1858-1889 ST. CHARLES BOROMEO CHURCH, ST. MARY, MARION COUNTY, KENTUCKY, ST. Warren, Mary Eliza Jane, dau of George Warren & Mary E. Mattingly, age about 7 mo. Died Aug. 17, 1914. It looks like that Mary Eliza Mattingly Warren died soon after having the child Mary Eliza Jane and the child died at age 7 months. Is this another Mary Eliza Jane baby and the one you have listed as Mary Eliza born in 9/24/1910 lived? Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "William R. One of Charles Bernard Mattingly's descendants frequent this line and I'll let him respond if he wishes, however I have not seen nor heard anything which suggest that C. B. was ever married to Sarah Cecelia Buckler and all his children were by his second wife as near as I can tell. It is also my understanding that upon the passing of his second wife, C. B. had the remains of his first wife moved to the same cemetery so that he could be buried between the two women. Charles and both wives are buried in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary, Marion County, Kentucky. His first wife, Sarah Catherine Russell, he wed on 1-27-1880 and she passed away on 8-10-1880. His second wife was Mary Ann Flanagan whom he married on 10-23-1883. Mary Ann passed away on 4-21-1912 and Charles died on 9-10-1915. These are the dates I have and trust they are correct.

Hi Bill, The Bolling/Bowling Family Association has been doing DNA testing for genealogical purposes for 2 years now and it is FANTASTIC. My uncle (a Bowling male) participated in the testing along with a friend from Charles Co, MD who is also a Bowling. The test proved we had a common ancestor and that tells us we are on the right track in our research. It's great. They've identified 8 distinct groups of Bolling/Bowling, etc. I've sent an email to Larry Bolling who heads our BFA DNA program and asked him to direct you to some info so you can read up on it. I think it's a great scientific advance for us genealogists! Shirley
