Ralph, and list, I found this some time ago, and it may be Ignatius Mattingly Jr. who is listed here, father of Mary Eleanor. Interesting! Sorry the format is messed up. I have this family. Zanesville, Ohio is my hometown. I show Chidley Matthew Mattingly and Phoebe Caroline Woodward having 7 children. He is the son of William Mattingly and Sara Chidley Matthews. (She died in 1831 and he married Anna Mary Dugan.) William the son of Henry Mattingly and Honor Durbin. Chidley Matthew had a sister named Honora. Who is the Mary that is throwing you off? I can't access a webpage from my home computer. Maybe I can help. My granddaughter is crawling and whining at my feet, so, I may not have too much time to answer anyone right away. Tricia Rev. If I am correct, I believe Mary and Thomas were married in Breckinridge County, Ky. From what we know of the Breckinridge Mattingly's it seems obvious that Mary was not from the bunch that stemmed from Cezar. However during some of these years Charles Fowler Mattingly was in the area as was a James Mattingly (not James Barton). Charles Fowler was a son of Ignatius Mattingly and Sarah Catherine Fowler but I don't have a daughter for this pair named Mary. I'm not certain I know all of Ignatius and Sarah's children but I feel that this may be an area to look into; if Mary was a sister to Charles Fowler, for example. **************** I'm seeking the parents of Mary E. Mattingly b 1800-1802 in KY who married Thomas W Lewis b VA. Does anyone have info on this Mary?
Thanks, William. I finally found them after you told me his name is Chidley Matthew, however I have that William married Anna Mary Dugan in 1833 after Sarah died in 1831, so the baptisms in 1819 seem strange with Mary as the mother. Maybe there is some mis-transcription or something in play here. JB (src. William R. Judith, at first glance this looks like Chidley Matthew and his sister Margaret. The Hannah is perplexing but this could have been Honora. The aim of the research is to collect samples of blood, from which DNA is taken, and family histories from at least 100,000 people. How right you are, Judith. It was the will of John Baptist Mattingly (1736-1817) I was looking at and again, I see no reference to a child, William. Ralph
You are correct Ralph. The names of the children of this gentleman came to me from the posting of the court cases following his death that Karen Fowler Caldwell was so kind as to post to this list some time ago. With her permission I will re-post them below. JB PS I hope this is ethical, I don't know the protocol for it. JB *************************************************************** I have a transcription of the court case that was given to me by a good friend and Mattingly researcher that was transcribed probably during the 1970's. Since this is not my own work and I have not compared it to the actual court case, I have no idea of what errors may be contained in it. I can only hope that my friend will forgive me for posting this and then asking him for permission later. I'll have to go back and try to determine where I got this info on William as born about 1777. My first thought is that it was from Charley but I hate to make that statement while being uncertain. However, you're right; William was most probably NOT in Washington County at the time his dad's will was being probated. I wish I knew something about him but he seems to have been rather unwilling to leave many traces. I think he was in league with that odd Lucas, John Townley, and others who kept their lives so un-trackable. ****************** >This William sounds like a true son of John Baptist d. 1817, however, I did >not have him b. 1777, I have an unlikely date of 1807 for him, unsourced, so >probably a results of a living nightmare after trying to understand his >father's estate settlement papers.
