    3. Bob, thanks for the reference on Mary Ann's parents. I wonder if anyone has any additional information on the off-spring of Henry and Mary Ann. I have them with four children but nothing beyond that. ************ Per the information provided by Gerald Thompson in his Kentucky Catholic Pioneers, I show Mary Anne Wimsatt, who married Henry Mattingly, son of George Mattingly and Elizabeth Wimsatt as the daughter of Bennett Wimsatt and Belinda Smith. 3. Just in case someone missed it I thought I'd point out that Henry's brother, Austin is in Fulton County, Illinois with him. The census index I have shows his name as Hustin, but it's clearly Austin. The brother, Robert, became a tailor and is in Bardstown, Kentucky. I haven't found brothers Joseph, born 1800 or George, Jr., 1801, on either 1850 census yet. Anyone know where they were at? ************ Anybody know who this Henry Mattingly connects to?

I found one Kentucky, a number of Illinois vets and a mention of a railroad engineer from Nashville etc. There are about 100 in all. Maybe your ancestor that fell off the earth landed in Australia. 1. Re: [MATTINGLY] Henry Mattingly
    2. William R Mattingly
    3. I believe this Henry was the son of George Mattingly and Elizabeth Wimsatt. Henry is credited with helping found the town of St. Augustine, Fulton County, Kentucky. He and wife are on the 1850 census for Fulton County, Illinois and he also donated land for the church in St. Augustine. There is some confusion involving Henry in that someone posted information on the LDS that he was a son of John Francis and Catherine Cravens but this can't be true as John Francis was much too young to be Henry's father (born about 1815). Mary Ann Wimsatt was a ward of Jesse Abell when she and Heny married, and her marriage bond was signed on 2-23-1824. I've seen a couple of references regarding her parents but don't know if either are correct: One says they were William and Martha Wimsatt and another claims they were Bennett Wimsatt and Belinda Smith. It does appear that these were two different Mary Ann Winsatts though. ************ Anybody know who this Henry Mattingly connects to? Henry Mattingly m. Mary Ann Wimsatt 23 Feb 1824 Wash. 3. This one seems wild! John Henry, Jr., born 1889, married Catherine Abell (I have 7 children, including a John Henry, III). John Henry, Sr., born 5-8-1857, married Elizabeth Abell (I have 10 children), and here's the kicker, John Henry, Sr. was a son of Joseph Austin Mattingly and Mary Elizabeth Abell. Joseph Austin was a son of Barton Mattingly and Anna Smith. This line sure liked their Abell's! Martha married Joseph Robert Mattingly, born 3-6-1914, and a son of Joseph Hubert Mattingly and Mary Rose Fields. I don't know if he married twice or not and I have no death date for Martha. Do you have the names of the other children of John Henry and Mary Catherine? ***************** A John Henry Mattingly, I show him as a Jr. married Mary Catherine Abell in Marion Co, KY abt 1912. They had at least 11 children from 1913 to 1937 from the KY records. I find them in Bradfordville in the 1920 Marion Co, KY census with 5 of their children. Does anyone have any idea who the parents of this John Henry Mattingly might be and /or the parents of Mary Catherine Abell. Per the census recrods he was b. abt 1890 and she was born abt 1895. I also have information that their daughter Martha b. abt 1916, I cannot find her in the birth records, married Joseph Robert Mattingly, son of John Hubert Mattinly and Mary Rose Fields. Joseph Robert died in 1986 and is buried in St Rose. Martha is listed as Martha Ann in Joseph robert's obit but in the 1920 census she is listed as Martha C Mattingly leaving me with some suspicion that I might have two different Martha's
