Years ago I was in contact with Marie Harris now deceased. Her Ancestor was from that William and Eunice Thurston Matlock. She believed that William was the son of Elisha Hosea Matlock son of Nicholas and Mary Shelton. Now if that is right or wrong, I dont know.. I have found little on Elisha.. but Marie belived that Micajah, George, and William were brothers.. All three of these boys left NC ..Micajah can be found in IL as early as 1830, It appears that William went to MO and then to IL , by 1840 William is in IL.. George went to MO and later ended up in IL as well.. Marie didnt live long enough to Prove or disprove her theory, but for the time until something comes along.. I have it as she left it.. Brenda

Brenda, Thinking out loud..... If Elisha Hosea is son of Nicholas and Mary Shelton. Nicholas was born 1709/1710. If they got married when about 20 that would put him having children about 1730-35. Elisha and guessing was born in 1740 or 1750 in that range. William b. 1812-1815 It appears that we might be missing a generation... But then maybe they married in their later years. Or the Elisha Hosea married a second time to a younger female. And that would work. does Marie mention any dates for Elisha Hosea or for his children.
