Matlocks go back to John>John>Moore>James Jason>James Jason Jr.> Candace. 1821-1916 who married Absalom Selvidge in Tenn. Some have asked me where I got "James" in James Jason. It is from an article in the History of Parker Co. (TX) submitted by a descendant of his and also another researcher several years ago. Both of them were Baptists ministers and Jr. married Candace to Absalom. Also, researchers who gave me John have good reasons but no proof. Moore on down are backed by census and descendants. Glad to help anyone and if you ever find proof fo the two Johns, I would love to have it, too. Thanks. Is seen in the much used picture of the family lounging in front of two covered wagons-this photo was taken in Texas, not on the Oregon Trail or any other west-traveling trail. He is sitting in the foreground with his young daughter on his lap. The families were out for a picnic, some of the children have their homework(books and some papers) with them and they were just out for the day.
